NCT failed on window tint.

    Lads, quick one.

Have the rules changed this year for window tinting? A friend has a ten year old car that came with tinted windows when he bought it. Now this year he failed the NCT and was told to remove the tints.

Just wanna check if they're talking out their hoops or is this a real change. And if so, is there any valid reason for it.

    Cheers.

    From the NCT Manual:
    Reasons for failure:

    Glass Windscreen
    • Glass has a visible light transmission level of less than 65%

    Glass Side and Rear Windows
    • Glass in front side windows has a visible light transmission level of less than 65%.
