My contract is due to finish shortly. Can I find out prior to this if I will be able to claim. If so, how?

You can call into your local sw office and find out if you are entitled to benefit. That depends on your total number of contributions and if you are making your claim in 2014 depends on your contribution history in 2012. If its allowance...then this is means tested and everyones personal circumstances differ.

Ok. Didn't realise it was 2012 that counted. Ruled out so as I only had S contributions then. I'd have enough A contributions if it was 2013 it went on.

You can still apply for jobseekers allowance.
