Work experience is more about the money and if you want to get a placement in a place just because you know you will get 100 quid at the end of the week, then you'll see later on how stupid you were. Get a placement in a place your interested in, even slightly interested, so at the end you can make a full on decision to see whether you would like to follow that career path. Don't do it for the money. Not only is it a bit ignorant and a waste of time for yourself and your employer but id say you'll regret it.

Sorry for coming off as a bit of a d**k in this post, but i've heard of more and more people recently trying to do this and my personal opinion is that it is stupid. But to answer your question, i think accounting firms sometimes pay you at the end of the week, but the only work you do in an accounting firm, is organise shelves and folders and give the workers tea and coffe :pac:

I got paid in a solicitors office but this is exactly what I did.

I didn't get paid in a Biology lab, but got to do loads of experiments and had a much more interesting week. I learnt a lot more from the Biology lab week

Many places don't pay you as such, as that brings all sorts of complications with it, but they will often give you a gift when leaving, a voucher maybe, sometimes cash, depending on how well you have got on with people and fitted in.
Other places don't pay you, but can often provide a better experience in terms of work.

Choosing your work experience on the basis of how likely they are to pay you is very childish, on a par with choosing a college course because you think it will lead to a high paying job.
