Slow morning so I got to thinking. Remember all those all over advertisment 737 -200s that Ryanair used to fly. I wonder where they are now and if any are still flying today at all. Well by using a combination of Airfleets, Planespotters and various others, to the best of my knowledge, this is where they are today. Sorry but because I'm a new poster I'm not permitted to post links. Mods feel free to add phots and info if you'd like. Enjoy ....

    EI-CJE Jaguar:
First flight in 1982 with Britannia Airways. Sold to Flightdeck Technology and converted to a sim in 2005 so sadly no longer flying.

    EI-CNY Kilkenny Beer:
First flight in 1983 with Lufthansa. Apparently still flying to this day with Rutaca in Venezuela. Now registered as YV369T

    EI-CNT Vodafone (Previously The Sun):
First flight in 1980 with Lufthansa. Also (according to Airfleets) still in service with Rutaca. Now registered as YV379T.

    EI-CNX Tipperary Crystal:
First flight in 1981 and again with Lufthansa. Also another survivor with Rutaca. Now registered as YV380T.

    EI-COA 1997 Ryanair Christmas Special:
First flight in 1982 with Condor. Last owner was Adamair of Indonesia (PK-KKJ) but sadly scrapped in 2011.

    EI-CJC Hertz:
First flight in 1982 with Britannia Airways. Ended up with Peruvian Airways (OB-1839-P) in 2009 and stored sice March of this year. Still together.

    EI-CKS Ryanair Love Plane:
First flight in 1980 with Orion Airways. 1995 -2005 with Ryanair when it was scrapped.

    EI CJD Ready to Go:
First flight in 1983 with Britannia Airways. Ryanair from 1994 -2004 when it was retired in Dublin Airport to become a fire training aircraft where it still sits today.

The start of it looks like the opening of an expose TV show like Panorama. You are just waiting for something dreadful to happen

:D One of the worst adverts I've seen.

As a young lad I used to hate waiting for the plane to arrive and surprise surprise it's another one of the Hertz or Kilkenny or whatever. I just wanted FR livery and now I guess my wish is granted all over.

That ad is 23 years old!!!! What were you expecting from an advertisment for something that is essentially a completly different company now?

Apologies, I didn't realise any negative comment was the verbal equivalent of beating up Ryanair

No I agree with them. Ask Michael O'Leary he'd probably say the same.

Where did I say that this was beating up Ryanair? I was simply pointing out that this ad is 23 years old. It was a very different time, a very different airline, and the world of media has changed a lot in the way that television advertising is made. Take it for what it is.

Taking all that into account, that doesn't mean it still isn't one of the worst adverts I've seen. That's the fact. Anything else is justification for the fact. Boy I lead a boring life.

How are we discussing this without a single picture?

    This too shall pass.

The old JT8D turbo fan engine looks so small compared to the CFM56's.

I still remember being in awe of the bucket type reversers.

I believe that one also started to peel off and lost a section of the ad after a while.
