Hello, does anyone know the deal with signing on the dole from returning from Australia? I should be home in December sometime. What do I need exactly.
    cheers.

A **** load of proof that you're finished with Australia for good.

A **** load of proof that you're finished with Australia for good.

And another ****load that you intend to stay here and aren't just looking for a bit of spending money for Christmas before you head off again in the New Year.

You will likely find a job quicker than you'll find yourself getting payment from the State. Your social insurance records will have significant gaps aswell to note.

    Welcome home in advance!

To make it easy on yourself, try to have a letter from your australian bank stating that you closed all your accounts, and a letter from your landlord showing your lease has not been renewed (or equivalent letter for house share). It's best to get all this sorted before you come home.

When you arrive home to Ireland, bills and a lease in your name is pretty good evidence you intend to stay here. Not possible in all cases, as many people who return move back with their parents. If you have been renting your house out and move back in, it will be fairly simply to prove your centre of interests are here by moving back in to your house.

At any rate, make your appointment with the dole office as soon as you arrive back and they will give you a list of documents they'll need you to provide.

A copy of your expired visa for Oz is essential.
