Contact Lenses

Long story short, went out on Sunday night had a little too much to drink and dont remember if I took my lenses out. Woke up next morning and all signs point to me taking them out after all.

However since Sunday it feels as if there is still a contact lense stuck in the upper eyelid of my right eye, I have poked and prodded at it numerous times during the week and tried the methods that work when I had a lense stuck before and nothing came out. Ive been able to put in lenses during the week and it hasnt popped out, but when I have no lenses in I can hear something clicking as if there is something there.

Could a lense still be in my eye a week later or am I going mad??

It could still be stuck under your eyelid. It happened to me before and the lens eventually came out a few weeks later! If it's not bothering you too much, just relax and continue to use other lenses until it comes to the surface itself.

Alternatively you could go to an optician if it's a problem but in own experience there's not a lot they can do.

Just go get it checked out. There could be something else going on. Also ignore the above poster about wearing lenses as normal. DON'T DO THAT.

Have you tried eye drops? Use liberally until it slides out.

Hey I am having trouble posting a new thread - can anyone direct me?

Anyway I have a contact lens query. I wear dailies. At home I of course wash my hands, dry them and then put lenses in/out. However I am now travelling in East Africa, where the tap water is not drinkable. So I'm wondering - does anyone know if it is safe to wash my hands in this water and then handle contacts? If not, what are the risks and what would the alternative be? I asked my optician, doctor, friends etc. and literally no-one has any idea! I imagine same applies to travel in SE Asia etc., anywhere water is not drinkable.

So from personal experience or scientific knowledge, any ideas? Thanks!

Use sterile hand or face wipes to clean hands.. buy a pack before leaving. I used to use dailies for years before I got Laser and never had any problems backpacking through Indonesia, Asia and North Africa.
