I recently got a new job and they are asking for my P45

My last job was only a one day thing (Assisting a store opening for a sale) I did receive a P45 for this.

My job before that was in 2012 - Is this P45 I have useless?

    What do I do?

Not if they are looking for a proof of PPS Number. Tell them you have phoned revenue to get your tax credit cert for this year. You need to phone revenue asap and ask for a Tax credit cert for this year

Was your 1-day job P45 from this year, ie 2014? If so, that's the one they need.

Otherwise, just tell them you haven't got one, and ring Revenue as suggested above.

I finished work in 2007, I did not request a P45 as I was not continuing in employment, for pension purposes now I have been told to submit P45 from my last employer but as it has been so long ago I don't want to contact them to request this, is there any other way of obtaining a P45 after such a long time or indeed would that employer still have records

As far as I know your p45 is only relevant if it is from the same year as you are starting your new job. Just ring Revenue to make sure your tax credits get allocated to your new employment and the employer should automatically get a certificate of tax credits then.

Thank you for your reply, however I did not continue in employment since 2007 but my pension company insist that they need a P45. I feel that revenue records should show that I have not been employed since then. I will have to contact my local revenue office for details. Thank you again
