Can't get FarCry 3 to launch from Steam. Clash with copy in Uplay?

    I'm running in to a bit of trouble when I try to launch my copy of Far Cry 3 from within Steam. I think there is a complication in that I already own a copy of the game in Uplay. Anyone know how to get Steam to launch it since everytime I attempt to launch it, Uplay opens and then when I click 'play game' I get an error saying "Unable to start the game. Please check that your game has been installed correctly. If the problems persist please contact Ubisoft support"

    I've tried verifying the game cache which then results in downloading of a file and the same thing happens over and over again. Some of the tips out there suggest running it as an administrator which does nothing and sometimes gives addition errors (error 740) i think!?.

    I could just install my copy from Uplay I suppose but I would like to have the ability to launch it from Steam since I've bought all the DLC for that copy.

    Any one got any suggestions?

    Personally, I would remove the game from uPlay and Steam - start fresh. Then install the game on Steam and let uPlay step in when it has to. You will also have to register the Steam CD-Key with your uPlay account as well.

    I've managed to get it to launch but in a very weird way.

    I can launch the game even though Steam isn't running! It's effectively launching the game using the Steam files but it using my Uplay log on and save files that were there from before. Steam deosn't have to be open open and the overlay isn't active even if it is running.

    I've told the farcry3.exe and the farcry3_d3d11.exe to run as admin. and have run Uplay as admin too. The game will only launch when I go into the bin folder in the steam installation folder and run the any of farcry3.exe/Farcry3_d3d11.exe/'FC3UpdaterSteam.exe' as admin. It wont launch from the desktop shortcut or from within steam since that open up Uplay and it wont launch from there either.
    Weird. but also incredibly frustrating.

    So...... I figured it out. I think. I never redeemed my cd key in uplay. No wonder it never launched when I attempted to do so from steam. Think it's working now but havent tested it properly. I now have two copies of the game in my uplay library but as king as it's working I can get over that
