    Hi,

I got x rays taken last week which shows that all my wisdom teeth will have to be extracted. One of the wisdom teeth is completely sideways and right on the jaw bone (running sideways along it).

My dentist said that I'll have to see a specialist to have that particular one removed, surgically. But she said she might be able to remove the other ones. She was a little busy at the time, and this might be a silly question, but could I get all my wisdom teeth removed while under local anesthetic? ie besides having my other wisdom teeth removed separately

    Thank you

First off, if your dentist only "thinks" she can remove the other wisdom teeth, I would not be very confident in letting her have a go. Go to someone who is confident in their ability to remove them and does this 10 times a day....

I think that you wrote that incorrectly.... Do you want all teeth out together under gemerl anaesthetic or iv sedation?? If so, yes a specialist oral surgeon would be able to do this if you wish.... It is a common request to have all treatment done in one session to minimize disruption to a patients life/ work etc....

    Good luck,
    Os

i have the exact same problem with my lower right wisdom tooth (growing sideways), went to specialist yesterday, was told tooth would have to be cut in two and part of gum removed to be able to extract it as its clamped up against the tooth next to it

I had 4 taken out at once, two of which were impacted. Got knocked out for it and all done in one go. I wouldn't have liked to do it twice it took a good two weeks to be right again

My experience was the exact same, word for word. Doing it once was enough.

Yep, if you are going to have to be knocked out you are better off getting them all done at once. I had mine removed under conscious sedation don't remember a thing. It did take nearly 2 weeks for me to feel comfortable chewing food.

Get a referral from your dentist and have an appointment to see what is best for you.

Thanks. Yeah that's what I meant to say. My bottom left wisdom tooth is far below the gum and I'll need to have surgery to remove it. It would be a lot more convenient for me if I had all my extractions in the one session as I'm in college at the moment.

    Thought so alright.
That is usually my advice to my patients...
One episode of oral surgery is enough for most people....

Speak to your oral surgeon. Often you would pay more to have treatment done separately also, all in one sitting is more economical....

I had 4 widoms removed under general yesterday. 2 impacted 2 partially erupted. Gotta say, the pain is minimal so far and from looking at the work, I reckon my surgeon was really good. Looks neat, no massive holes and no bruising so far.Small bit of bleeding in my sleep last night but it has mostly cleared up.

Took a painkiller last night (difene and tramadol) but have no inclination to take them today. Washing with corsodyl and eating ice cream so far. Will have some soup and bread tonight.

If you can get them all done at once, do it. And I reckon the people that have horror stories about it probably got an infection or dry socket. If you can avoid this, you'll be grand.
