Lads this fight will happen Mid-October I'm told from a decent source close to the Froch side!!!

I heard that Froch is supposed to announce his retirement soon enough

No fight with Hopkins in it is ever a cracker!!

I'd like to see both retire. Neither has any more to prove.

Intriguing fight. One Hopkins could be competitive in provided he has anything left, crafty fighter.

Hopkins is a scourge on pro boxing. Has been for quite some time now.

Agreed, for all the respect he's due for fighting on and being competative he is doing so by killing fights, seriously tedious to watch these days. If this happens would like to see Froch retire him. Bit of a meh fight for Carl though so not sure it'll happen.

I'd have really liked to see Froch take on Degale at the time Degale was his mandatory. My interest for that fight has waned a bit now, although I still would be interested in it, or a fight with Dirrell again if he were to beat Degale. Other than that Robert Stieglitz is the only Super-Middleweight I'd like to see him fight. Not that he'd present a great test, but I just feel style wise it'd provide a hugely entertaining fight.
But as Joe Calzaghe once said 'Who's Peter Stieglitz ?'

I agree with you that he has nothing left to prove......but who wouldn't get excited by the prospect of him vs Golovkin ?

As for Hopkins, I'd agree that it's best he retires. Very insightful guy, but it's best he uses that as a commentator or a trainer and not a fighter at this stage.

Froch is deluded with regards fighting Ward in Nottingham. Does he honestly think the outcome would be any different. Bute got found out, same as he would have if they fought in Vegas or anywhere else.

I am not sure what the reference to Bute is/means?

Froch is too announce a fight next Tuesday, it is GGG or BH....

Id love to see both but which ever is in the MGM...

The Ward fight wont happen as ward wants his titles back and has signalled out Degale as the easist target!!

I hope it's against Hopkins. Great fight for both to retire on.

    You'd pick a Hop fight over a GGG fight?

I actually would yes. Golovkin has stuff yet to do at 160 whereas Froch and Hopkins have done it all, nothing left to achieve or lose and both are looking for one more fight...it makes sense. Besides it is a great clash of styles.

It's a fooking horrible clash of styles! I can't know for certain but I would bet big money on a horrible and messy fight.

I would guess it to be almost unwatchable. Only Hopkins being so shot Froch ko's him could save the bout.

Where did you see that there is an announcement from Froch on tuesday?

Have not heard anything about it...

GGG would be fascinating to see if that power carries up the weight and with someone as tough as Froch

On the face of it Hopkins fights are terrible to watch yet I am still glued to each one of them purely because of his age. No matter how he fights to do what he does at 50 is fascinating. I'd be intrigued to see how he would do against Froch.

He simply spoils. Yes, at 50 that is also difficult, but fascinating it is not.

Froch has re-injured his elbow, hence the delay!!

Against Dawson and particularly Kovalev, old bhop could do little more than spoil but is there another 50 year old man that could survive 12 rounds with Kovalev relatively unscathed? I doubt it, his defence is incredible he has the calmness and presence to use every trick in the book to avoid getting hit.

I can feel a noticeable loss of speed and reaction time in myself in my late 30's. I am just highly impressed that he can mix it with the best in the world at 50.

I'd like to see him fight Froch.

I sure hope so but with this new injury and the hinting from Hearns and Froch himself in the past, it wouldn't surprise me at all.

I don't think Froch can retire on such a low key.

    His ego won't allow it.
