I'm flip-flopping between a zillion lighting options faster than Superman on a beach holiday.
My latest temptation is swimcyclerun's offering of the volt 300 front and 50 rear combo for 85 quid. If anyone with those lights could tell me what they're like real worldly I would it appreciate. :)

I got one of these last month and can't fault it so far . It does a very good job of lighting the road.
It states a 3hr run time at the high setting , but I can't verify that as I've only done 1.5hrs at most at night and it has lasted that at least.
I currently have it paired with a cheaper flashing front light just for added security.
I don't have the rear light from that set so can't comment on that.

I am looking at it as well. What would the opinons be on using it for out in the coutryside, is it suitable for tipping along at 25kmph on an unlit road?

I have two. They're fine for anything under 3 hours in the dark. You can get a spare chargeable battery giving you more time if necessary. Honestly I would have preferred aa batteries rather than USB chargeable but if you're riding more than 3 or 4 hours in the dark you should really be looking at a dynamo setup. Its at the back of your mind if there's enough charge and adds more faff to being organised. With aa batterys you can just bring them and pull over if necessary.

Great thing about cateye, IMO, is the homogeneous fixings allowing you to swap lights between bikes or keep one for urban well lit streets, and another for darker roads.

In summary - grand for the price for short/ medium spins.

Edit - thats only the front light.

I have one and that's where I use it.

Whats the beam like for it? Is it suitable or does it just barely do the job

I've no other high end light to compare it to but I never felt I was missing anything with it so to me it was grand.

Here's my kitchen with it if that helps

    Niiice......kitchen :)

Anyway, I'm sold. I've enough dithering done and the swimcyclerun deal is better than anywhere else that I've seen by a long way and is the right price to take a punt on.

Plus, they've quite a cool video :) (though balmy italian twylight evenings are in short supply round these here parts.)
