Dynamo hub: Schmidt SON or Shimano dh3n80?

So I'm shopping for my new audax/touring bike. Looks like being a Thorn Club Tour. Included in the base price is a front wheel (shimano deore hub, Mavic A719 rim). I can do an upgrade to a Schmidt SON deluxe dynamo hub with the same rim for GBP160. Or I can buy a full wheel with Shimano DH 3N80 dynamo hub and Mavic A719 rim for GBP80 and end up with a spare front wheel.

I'll be riding the Paris Brest Paris on this bike (along with all the qualifying rides) as well as commuting hail, rain or snow (Schwalbe Marathon Winters...).

So, is it worth the extra GBP80 for the SON deluxe but without a spare wheel? Or am I better off spending GBP80 less and having a spare wheel for all those wish I had a spare moments?...

I've run both, and to tell the truth, I've noticed zero difference.
Thorn's a great bikes, tho, I had a Rohloff/Raven, very well put together.

No idea but let me know what you go for willya? And what light you're gonna pair it up with. I've filled multiple online baskets with lights of all sorts and am perilously close to a random "ah fcuk it" click purchase

Cheers man. One more thing. While I'm annoying you with questions and not answering yours :), could you link to the dynamo hubbed wheel for 80 quid. I found one on rose (that wasn't a wheelset) but it was more like 170 euro

Can't decide if the beard seals the deal, or scuppers it...

I wondered what Santi did in the summer months: he's a wheel builder
