Contacting Cycling Ireland

    Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone has an insight or tip as to how to make contact with Cycling Ireland? Have sent them a few messages via the contact form on their website over the last month but no response. Have redialled the number again and again but only get a voice recording of their opening hours, no facility to leave a message. If this the usual case or am I just being unlucky??

They have been busy in recent weeks firstly in the build up to the AGM and subsequently preparing for the launch of the new season for signing up (the portal only opened up yesterday). I think this time of year we regularly get comments about how difficult it is to contact them and the only thing I can recommend is to persevere

If your question is generic, perhaps you could mention it here, as there are a few of us who are reasonably familiar with the goings on of CI (and indeed one or two with experience of dealing with it at the highest levels)

Ah cheers Beasty for the heads up & info! I'm a bit of a newbie so wouldn't have known. It's nothing urgent, just chasing up on licence. Thank you!

Presumably a 2014 licence? They closed for applications for 2014 at the end of September. Do you need it for CX or MTB racing (or perhaps track/road racing overseas) over the winter?

No, no Beasty, you're making me out to be some sorta pro now altogether!! I'm only looking for normal licence for cycling with club. I got temp one on 01 Oct but reckon I should have had the proper one by now???

Are you sure it's temporary or does it run until the end of 2014? You don't need to be holding a paper/plastic licence. If they say you are a member on the website then you are covered. From yesterday they were taking applications for 2015 and for insurance purposes you are covered from the application being accepted until 31 December 2015

Yeah, definitely just a temp one. This is the wording I received with it on 01 Oct:

Thank you for renewing your licence with Cycling Ireland. This is your receipt for the transaction and confirmation of your licence details which serves as a temporary licence for 30 days from date of issue.

Have you logged on and checked your status within the CI system? I am guessing that at this time of year they may well have "switched off" the 2014 licence production, but you should still be covered for club spins if the CI website shows you as a member.

It's going to be the same for anyone signing up for 2015 now - in previous years some have not received their licences for a few months, but they have had proof of membership via the CI membership system. It's never been a problem and all you ever had to do if asked (which I think only happened in racing situations) was you needed to produce a copy of the e-mail with your licence details included

If you are signed up to a club they can also confirm it via the CI website (so, for example, as an officer of McNally Swords CC I can view all paid up club members on the CI website). I can't really think of who you would need to produce such a licence to if you are not racing
