Asus x54c - Charging issue

My folks have an Asus x54c laptop at home. There is an issue with the charger in that it physically needs to be held and pushed in to power the laptop. Sometimes if the charger connection is laid against something it will continue to charge. I took apart the laptop, reset the motherboard and still the same problem. Ive tried a number of different chargers but no resolve.

Is it possible to replace the charger point on the motherboard (although that sounds like a whole world of pain) or is there anything else that could be checked?

That's a classic failed dc jack. If its soldered to the board as most are then you need a good service tech to unmount it and mount a new one. Part is a few euro, labour is a lot more.
