Hi, just wondering what is the boards opinion on the best laptop available currently for €1000?

I realise that's a bit broad so: Looking for a laptop that can play most modern games, will run Autodesk Inventor without lagging (too much). Has a 15" screen or larger.

    Cheers.

1000 euro gaming laptops are not a third as good as a 400 euro gaming PC. They run hot and are big and bulky and just pieces of crap really.

My advice would be spend 700 on a proper gaming machine and get a laptop for 300.

Cheers for the advice, but i'm not in a position to get a pc at the minute, in college so the portability is key and travel home alot and would like to bring my games and project work with me.

Wow you weren't messing, I'd look well carrying one of those around with a monitor and bringing them into class though!

Haha, have a look at pc specialist and see what ya can get for a grand. Most gaming laptops are grand at 720P or 900P.

Not true really, one of the best places is pcspecialist.co.uk, you can custom build a laptop.

Last gaming laptop I had was an MSI Destroyer, cost about 1,100, R9 290 mobility - same speed as a desktop R9 270 more or less, ran most games at 1080p high-ultra.

Gaming laptops are not ideal and you'll pay a 100% premium for that mobility, but to be fair 1K is a good budget for something that'll play games now at 1080p decent settings, and last a few years at decent visual levels overall.

Only problem is, a lot of gaming laptops are large and clunky relatively speaking, which makes them a bit of a pain lugging around lectures and in a backpack. s

A good balance would be something like a 15.6" with a decent i5 and a GT860M, should come in under a grand and will offer a mix of strong performance and good portability. But as I said, check out PC specialist.

liank, when you use pc specialist at the top of the screen ,select republic of Ireland and British pound. Their conversion rates are way off. Will save you money.

You are a student so get windows yourself cheaper.

Now following above methods. For around 991 euro.
I built an Optimus v, 17 inch full hd 1080p , Quad core I7, gtx 860m, 8 gigs of ram, a 120 SSD and 500 gb HDD. Then you ad windows via your student priced one.

Know this is a bit over budget but having the quad core , and SSD I think is worth it. And will help it keep its value if you wish to sell it down the line. Not to mention better performance
    all around.

Remember when buying a gaming laptop to look and see is the screen true hd. Most shop laptops will not be 1080p. Best of luck.
