Hi all, in an apartment with an upstairs bedroom. There is a rad upstairs and underfloor heating downstairs. There is three heating switches, zone 1, 2 and the water switch. I recently just repressurised the boiler but now im trying to figure out is heating 1 all the underfloor or sections. Sitting room/kitchen, bathroom and downstairs bedroom and heating 2 the upstairs rad? Or is downstairs split into two zones. It takes aged to heat up so dont want to waste more effort and energy.

There is two circulating pumps. The green one comes on for zone 1. Is the blue one for just upstairs? Any help is appreciated for my sanity.

Think I figured it out. 1 is for all downstairs and takes a long while to heat up, bout 2 1/2 hours, 2 probably the upstairs rad,

My understanding of underfloor heating is that you run it 24/7... if you turn it on and off it takes more time and oil than it is worth.

Underfloor heating is a disaster, not as bad as storage heating but still poorly thought out, thermostats cant control the heat effectively as the heat is generated by the time its too hot so it still emits heat, takes forever to heat up, we've a small enough place so putting it on for an 1 hour in morning before getting up and an hour half in evening is what worked last winter, took the chill out and was ok, having it on the whole time was a disaster. uncomfortable, windows had to be opened. having boiler on full blast two hours a day shouldnt be massively expensive?

Have another question for ye related to the previous issue,

We now have the boiler time to come on for about 2 hours before we come home and about an hour in the morning. Place is fairly warm. The Gas meter is in a closed off unit on ground floor of apartments so cant get see the usage but if we had normal central heating with rads turned on for the same amount of time would it use the same gas?
