Learning an Obscure Programming Language

Looking for ideas on what obscure programming languages I could learn or newish languages that are becoming more popular. I was thinking of learning Cobol, but it reminds me of ASM a little too much. I am open to giving it a go as some industries seem to be reliant on it. I am taking an interest in Dart, developed by Google if I am correct.

Node.js??? Not obscure but it is newish and gaining a bit of momentum

I've been doing some Scala lately. Its pretty nice.

I'm starting to think C++ : C as Scala : Java
For all the good and bad that entails.

I have a friend who really likes Go, says its a great language, and it will probably become big in the next few years.

Node.js isn't a language - its a javascript framework.

R is going to be eaten by Python.

(I mean, obviously I don't *know* this, but it seems pretty likely to me, having used both: python is much cleaner, and gaining real momentum in the areas R is strong.)

If you want to look at a new way of looking at things, have a look at Node.js backbone(or similar) and a NoSQL (e.g. MongoDB)
