Haven't seen it yet but assume they had to issue one because they stated a fact that had been unproven since. In other words, a journalist didn't check his facts from more than one source and a story ran as truth when it wasn't.

I bet it was dishonoring someone though if it's on the front page! Major slap on the wrist for whoever wrote the article in the first place. More than likely, they had to put it on the front page to ensure their 'entire reader base' acknowledged the apology and incorrect facts given.

Was chatting to a buddy, story is about a cattle exporter fined 100k for exporting diseased stock. He said that the national press ran the story the previous day, but all of them had the correct name printed. The following day the comic was published with a completely different name. Some screw up to make.

Just looked it up. Both named David and both from Mallow but that's where the similarity ends!

What would you expect from a paper that comes out on a Thursday telling you it's Saturday.

Rarely buy it anymore, bar the news the rest of it just seems very repetitive and biased. The journalism is very simplistic and lazy, more often from the views of the journalist or facts handed on a plate as opposed to in depth research and presentation. Same few farmers manage to get their faces in it on a regular basis too. Any idea how the farmers who are featured and write the weekly columns are picked??

No, but if you watch names and faces often enough you'll see a lot of them have "positions", which are omitted from some articles.
