Urgent: Foriegn Student needs Travel Ins. but not 6month resident

    HI all

    An International Student is trying to get a shengen visa to visit France - he has an appointment next Tuesday

    A requirement is Travel Insurance - I tried to book even just a single trip online

    But all the ones I tried says " must be a resident of Ireland " i.e be in Ireland more than 6 months


    I guess he could chance it and accept just to have the document for the Embassy - but I would prefer if his cover was legit

    Any one any idea who might do this ? I am with Multitrip myself so I emailed them but no reply yet

    Perhaps pick up the phone to a broker, as they're more likely to know of & offer a workaround than someone in customer services.

    Did they not require Travel Insurance for coming here?

    No - he required medical cover which was provided - and this seems to allow him to travel in Europe ( it is student cover0 but i think it is not up to the minimum of 30000 that Shengen requires)


    I don't really know what he should do - I told him to ask fellow students who have travelled before but not much success - they recommended Bank OFI Ire which has the same 6 month rule , unless he just clicks and accepts


    the problem is to fly to franc mid dec he needs to go to french embassy Tuesday and have it sorted, and before that queue for 6 hours for a re- entry visa here
