What AI company are you with?
I'd be also looking at how well she is made, ie extreme muscle or not, age and how much hardship you are willing to take.

On that type of cow I usually go easy calving Lim.
    Something like HCA

Is the Angus bull KDU still available? Something like him would be a safe option on that type of heifer and a nice calf also.

balto the parthenaise bull from dovea,is very easy and has been used on that same type of heifer in wexford with heifers calving on there own, then it all comes down to what you want and breed.

HCA probably safest LM available, for that job with reliability....

I'd be inclined to go very safe on this one, Saler or SH to be honest.

I'm a big fan of Parthenaise as you know Legs but I would be very reluctant to go down that road on a blue heifer. The only one I'd feel comfortable chancing would be TBX but you'd be hard pressed to find straws of him now.

What about ZLL from Bova. Serious red angus bull that is easy calving and the calves are growthy well shaped calves. My AI man recommends him highly and I've a few heifers due to him next year.

Good bull for a Blue heifer just a little too hard calved. I'd be looking sub 4% calving difficulty if it was me

OZS is a great bull but I used him on a 50% BB 50% LM heifer and had nice pull but was a great calf at the back end , a heifer also I kept her

Have two calves off ZLL, a bull an heifer and im not very impressed. Conformtion is poor, eventhough the mother of the bull calf is a shapy limo. And the heifer is very flighty, eventhough her mother is quite.

Feck. My AI man reckoned he was the biz and his maternal index is over 400.

I thought I had the same problem with EFZ this year. Used him for replacements. 4 bulls in a row first but I eventually got a few heifers.

Wel genghis.. I am with bova ai.. havnt used ai in few yr because workn away... jus ran stock bull on average heifers... just got this heifer and few more on the way hopefully. I would lik to get a rasonably good calf without a c section.. also whats the story with sexed semen.. anyone used dat?..?

I used EFZ on a cow for her 2nd calf, her first calf was OZS and OZS would beat him up and down the town for quality, height , muscle .. EFZ is throwing nice cattle but very butty

I bought a dozen straws of the Lim Dubai

    http://bova-ai.com/?page_id=4276

from Bova for heifers. He's average calved but not woeful easy. Some of his calves were on the big side. No C Sections though and no major hardship, but some jacking.
If your're used to calving average heifers, the more bred up muscular heifers can be a challenge. Maybe play it cautious on the first calf and take it from there.

I never used sexed semen, it's a bit more expensive, conception rates are lower, I'm hoping to use some at some stage in the future.

Sexed semen conception rate is about 7% less than conventional.

PG have sexed FTY & Druide, and think they'll be getting sexed Apostle for the spring.

Ya I noticed that alright. I've some GWO calves the same age and they are well ahead in size. Haven't tries Ozs yet.

Think docility might be an issue from what I have heard, haven't seen a whole load of them.
