Frequent flyer card for all (or most) airlines?

Anyone recommend a frequent flyer program/card that works with all/most airlines?

I've already had a couple of trips this year to NY & London, and later this month have to go to Turkey, then December I'm due to go to California, with London again in January & February and possibly Boston in March.

The company pays the fares so I can't get a credit card one, but the person responsible said if I can get a frequent flyer program I can get the points.

It's not likely to be the same airline each time, hence the need for a generic type card.

    Thanks

There isn't one single program that covers all of the worlds international airlines.

However, about 90% of them are covered by 2 separate programs.

    One World Alliance.

They have American Airlines, JAL, Cathay Pacific, British Airways, Iberia, FinnAir & about 8-10 others.

    Sky Team Global Alliance.

They have Delta, United, Aerolinas Argentinas, Virgin Atlantic, KLM, & about 8-10 others.

There is no "generic" card really, you'll have to choose between the various alliances or groupings realistically. There's nothing stopping you from having multiple cards, however.

More like 90% in 3 alliances, also Star Alliance Lufthansa, Air Canada, Singapore Airlines etc.

The UAE long haul guys are not in these Alliances, inconveniently.

    United are Star Alliance.

The whole point of frequent flyer programs is so that you will fly with 'us' rather than 'them' so having one program covering all or most airlines is an unachievable and unrealistic aspiration.

It would like asking if there is a single loyalty card/tag which you could use to accumulate points in Tesco, Dunnes and SuperValu.
