Any thoughts? I've based this off a build my brother made, but he lives in the UK and if I was to do it through partpickers, I would pay a lot on various deliveries.

The only thing I haven't added that he has is a "TRENDnet TEW-805UB 802.11a/b/g/n/ac USB 3.0 Wi-Fi Adapter".

Any comments would be much appreciated.

    Just some thoughts,

what are you going to be using it for?

Do you need any extra feature that H97 motherboard brings to the table? You could be overspending on the motherboard if not.

Are you intending on going cross-fire down the line? If not, you could scale back on power supply if you want.

You cant overclock that cpu/motherboard combo, so there may be no need for the 3rd party cpu cooler, and its relatively easy to add one down the line if you want.

You can get cheaper RAM than that, just a suggestion

I would probably go for a 290 with one of the top of the line/well reviewed coolers seeing as the 290 reputedly runs hot and some models can sound like hoovers.

Do you need a dvd drive? Havent used mine in a couple of years. And they can sometimes ruin the look of the front of the case (though it wouldnt bother most people). If you need it, and the looks dont bother you go for it. If you need it and the looks do bother you, you could get an external usb powered one you can plug in when you need it. If you dont need it, save a tenner, or put the money into something else!

Anyways, just a few things to consider

    I appreciate the feedback.

I am going to be using this to play games at the highest settings. GTA, Far Cry etc.

I don't understand the term cross fire so won't be using it, I won't be overclocking either.

DVD Drive, isn't a huge thing for me at all, but for the sake of a tenner I'll add it in.

Crossfire is using two AMD graphics cards, the Nvidia term is SLI. If you dont intend on using it you could go with a decent 450-500 watt power supply.

My comments above are really around getting value for money, there is no point in spending more than you need to on power supplies and motherboards etc. if you arent going to be using the benefits that extra money buys.

They are just things to consider, not recommendation as such. Somebody more well up on individual parts could give you a recommendation.

But its a solids build as it is, cpu is solid, but if you can save on some items where there is no benefit for you in buying a more expensive item, you could fit in a more power efficient GTX970 or or a quieter 290 in budget.

That said the card you selected will like play every current game you can throw at at max settings on a 1080p monitor (if thats the resolution of your monitor). It may be just be a bit louder and/or power hungry.
