In 1973 the Dublin Rail Plan laid out the DART heavy rail line known presently as the Interconnector/DART Underground.

In 2023 the Half Century of this proposal will have arrived - 50 years of plans. An important milestone only 9 years away.

I hope the Government makes a real commitment to the project and goes all out and produces a special glossy report document and a high profile launch of glossy brochure at Dublin Castle. Maybe an IRRS special through the Phoenix Park Tunnel too?

Such a milestone - a rail project delayed FIFTY YEARS, push aside, mothballed and resurrected before elections - cannot be left to go without a massive celebration.

If plans are made now: it can be a really special glossy brochure!

How about this for a title. "HALF CENTURY LATER, HALFWAY THERE"?

    or HALFARSED AS USUAL...

While I do agree wholehearted with you, we're not the only ones who take their time at these projects.

The Crossrail in London, currently being built, can trace its origins back to 1948!
