I'd like to make Bone broth, but from what I'm aware it you have to simmer the bones for up to 48 hours. I'd imagine that would be expensive on for my Gas Bill. Does it really rake 48 hours?

It seems to me that bone broth is just properly made stock.

There are a few ways to short-cut the recipes I've read on this but maybe you could confirm what you're looking to get out of it first?

    Use a pressure cooker?

We make it in college, 8 hours for beef and 2 hours for chicken.

    Roast the bones beforehand

Yes use a pressure cooker. I've just got an Instant Pot. I haven't tried it yet but some rave about it for bone broth. I'm looking forward to being able to make stock relatively quickly.

or a slow cooker [much cheaper device around 30 euro I think] which keeps it cooking for hours with minimal energy input ?

My opinion on Pressure Cookers is personally I would get a good brand with a very long guarantee built in [like Fissler] or not at all.
