    Hi guys,

After to trying to overcome a huge dentist phobia I ended up in the dentist 6 weeks ago due to about a year of horrendous pain (pathetic I know)
Anyway I have started my treatment plan and first was a course of antibiotic due to an absess.

Anyway a week ago I got 2 teeth extracted and had to have a few stitches. For the last day I feel unwell and my teeth feel very sensitive and slightly achy.

I have been rinsing with salt warm water and using cordosol 2 times a day.
I also have a little bottle of peri-aid I use.

Would it be against forum rules or tmi if I posted a pic to see if someone could tell if is is dry socket??!!

I have an appointment with the dentist in 2 weeks, so don't want to go before that if I am just imageing this dry socket.

I have heard the pain is very bad, but because I only know pain in my teeth I am not sure.

It is not against forum rules to post a pic but it would be against forum rules for anyone to try to give a definitive diagnosis based on your picture.

Dry socket diagnosis is based on the patients history and also the clinical appearance. It generally develops 3-5 days following an extraction. It is a deep seated pain/ache, can be worse at night, pain killers don't help much, usually no significant swelling in the mouth/neck, can radiate in the jaw/face, usually a very bad taste and smell from the mouth.
Clinically, the socket usually appears empty (no blood clot) or has food in it. I have diagnosed dry sockets that appear relatively normal to the untrained eye so your photo may be useless…

If any of the above sounds like you, then go see your dentist tomorrow. Dry socket is self limiting but can be eased by your dentist ringing the area and placing a dressing in the socket…

    Thanks so much oral surgeon.

I don't know if I am panicking for no good reason. There is an achy feel there but like I said That could be just to do with the teeth extraction.

The socket is kinda of hard to see as there is still stitches there although it looks very clean/healing.

If there is still pain tomorrow I will see my dentist.

    Thanks again oral surgeon.
