1998 Golf ABS Light Help

Hi all, recently my abs light came on and I discovered which one was at fault.

So today I replaced it and when I connected my OBD scanner to clear the ABS light, the scanner would not connect. It would go so far and then fail to connect but there is power etc to the OBD port.

Now I have an aftermarket radio fitted, and a friend suggested this may be the problem?

Can anyone help or point me in the direction of a solution?

Unfortunately the car came without the original radio so refitting is a no go.

    Thanks

ABS is not part of the OBD standard so a normal code reader won't work. You'll need VAG specific diagnostics, either VCDS or a dealer tool.

Can you connect to any of the controllers in the car?

No, goes as far as reading battery voltage and that's it.

The aftermarket radio problem occurs because some radios send out 12 V on the ISO pin that the stock radio uses for diagnostics. Easiest way to rule this out as an issue is to remove the radio while doing diagnostics.
