1 room holiday house

    Hi

I'm planning on building a 1 room holiday house, I say house but I actually mean bedroom as that's all it will have to be.

It's on a plot where we have a small house already so I'm just looking to get a cheap but easy on the eye design that I can build myself.

Adding an extension onto the existing is not an option.

The house will need to sleep 2 comfortably and have some storage space but that's about it.

I did pick up a large sliding door on done deal a while ago so I was thinking of using it at the front so that you can wake up and look out at the view over the sea. It's quite heavy though so it might not be easy to get it to fit and stay.

Does anyone have any suggestions for websites where I could get some ideas?

I saw a nice idea on George Clarkes Amazing spaces recently, the house had a curved wall and roof based on the fibonacci spiral, unfortunately this would count out the sliding door idea.

    Thanks

    Bw

Have you looked at timber log cabins. Variety of sizes and shapes easy to erect.
I do have a connection to a company so am not mentioning a name. Call or pm for more details

I have looked at log cabins but they're not what I'm after, too expensive compared to diy.

How about a pod cabin http://podsireland.com/

Thanks, but like the log cabins, not what I'm after. They are over twice what I'm looking to spend.

I want to build it myself so I'm looking for some designs, the pods aren't bad for ideas though.

Not that easy on the eye but maybe it could be decorated.:)

Google 'george clarke's amazing spaces'. He has a programme on C4 that deals with exactly your situation. There are some amazing ideas from mostly DIYers....

I've been watching his programs, some great ideas on there but I need a little help with some help designs and can't afford an architect!

American's are big into building these, they refer to them as tiny-houses. If you search around on google you can get lots of plans for free and at a cost.

Exactly what I was looking for, thank you very much.

Op if the accommodation is separate to the existing dwelling it needs planning.
