Help troubleshooting poor saorview with rain

    Hi,

I’m looking for some help troubleshooting terrible-to-no saorview reception when there is even a little rain, even though I’m about 4k from three rock and have a clear line of sight, the rest of the time it is perfect. This came to a head on Saturday when I wanted to watch the rugby and RTE TWO was unwatchable (breaking up image, dropouts etc.).

    Setup:
External antenna, that feeds into a splitter mounted on the mast to combine it with one of the two feeds from the sat (as I only ran two sat cables originally) then back in the house I split it out and back into my Amiko Alien 3. Software I’ve tried everything and there isn’t much of a difference.

Where should I start in my troubleshooting? My feeling is that if I had an antenna in my living room it would be better than what I have currently!

If you disconnect the satellite input of your receiver does it have any effect on poor saorview reception?
The LNB might be causing some noise on the terrestrial frequencies when its powered and enough to cross to the other side of the splitter.

(BTW as a precaution don't disconnect this with the receiver powered on, you might accidently cause a brief short circuit (inner core touching outer) as it carries a current up to the LNB)
