I'm guessing this is fine but just want to double check. Ok to have boarding passes for two people on the one smartphone when flying Aer Lingus?

    Thanks

    I've seen it done before.
Guy in front of my last month had 2 boarding cards on his phone, showed one then had to scroll to show the one for his missus.

Lol makes me think of the toilet roll advert on TV. Did he have a picture of a toilet roll on his phone for wiping his ar$e?? :)

    This advert.

No the app does not allow this. You basically have to check in individually, screenshot the pass to see it work properly. The new app in 2015 will be an excellent addition allowing multiple passenger check-in on the same booking and providing the boarding passes directly to Apple's Passbook in addition to holding the boardings passes on the new app in offline mode.

I still prefer the old fashioned paper. What happens if your battery goes dead? Smartphone batteries aren't the best.

Any more information on when the new App will be available. I fly Aer Lingus regularly and always use the mobile boarding pass. Our company phones are locked down tight so its painful entering an 8 digit complex password every time you need to wake the phone up to show a boarding pass. Passbook boarding passes can be displayed from the lock screen so Passbook integration would be very welcome.

I don't know what smartphone you have but I have no issue with mine. You just need the presence of mind to keep it charged when appropriate ie. before leaving on a journey such as a flight. Also you are unlikely to loose a smartphone as you will tend to take good care of it. I know countless people who have lost their paper boarding passes and or passports in the chaos of checking in and going through security. Just ask any of the ASU folks they will tell you.

I always run with the app and screenshot it and bobs your uncle. Simples.

I can't say definitively but sometime in 2015 I would suspect not in 2014 definitely. Completely understand where you are coming from as the current app really falls short of the standards required, you and your colleagues will love the new app and its integration into iOS and Android. :)

Are mobile boarding passes accepted at most major European airports? I have the Aer Lingus app but have never tried it as I'm always worried it will not be accepted by security on the return leg of my journey.

It won't let you check in if the particular airport doesn't have the facility. There are a couple in the EI network, I think AMS from memory ? I'm sure there is somewhere on the app or indeed their website where you can check.

The list of airports where it is accepted is here
