i have a suckler herd but would not call myself a beef farmer,so no i would not go as i see this all is all the farmers own fault that they are losing money.sure if they got the extra 350 yoyos that they seem to think that they are due they would give it away the next day in the mart anyway.:D

Well done to those out there.
Small Part time farmers here but "real job" and family commitments rule me out.

That's a poor attitude to have, i think farmers are only looking for a fair price, what they do wi that. E350 is none of our business.More than likely that money is price between making a loss and profit. Very negative

If you aren't a beef farmer what type of farmer are you? Unless you sell all you animals for breeding they will end up on a plate. Either way the price of the animal in the factory will affect what you get paid.

Partly guessed, but I decided to pull him on it as it's a sensitive subject right now.

unless the farmers in italy block their factories i dont care about what the irish farmers are at, if i produce rubbish i can only expect a irish lad to buy it and complain that he is losing money, and i am still getting out of suckling and back to milk, and i still wont be a beef farmer:D:)

    Parttime suckler and beef here
Done 12 to 3 Sunday night and 2to5 last night
Have young family at home (with quiet wife)
Working both days very disappointed at the plicks in my local branch that know it all but still didn't show.
But it's the old story people with excuses and people who get on with it

Ya the 3 main exporters left in the country will really push eachother into big prices without farmers biting at their heals

    Now thats just silly;)

So everything you have goes to Italy!!

No cull cows, no cow with mastitis thats better to kill than treat, no heifer that calves with no milk or is stone mad and needs to go, no heifers that dont go in calf, no injuries or one that goes bockety

Thats even before ya might have the misfortune of a cow breeding a runt of a U or god forbid an R grade calf the one of those stupid beef farmers might 'give it away to you the next day in the mart anyway' - that extra E350 for it if he was getting it:D

cows are sold live at market value at the time ,as is everthing,i am a farmer which means i am a price taker,i will not keep doing something for the sake of doing it.my ****e weanlings made 750 this year that was my fault not my customers ,they were not good enough for the boat,as long as i got paid market value for the export cattle i will take the hit for the crap ,why because that farming.

no i wont want any support from any other farmer when milk drops in price, why because it wont do any thing for world prices.
I wish you well and hope you're never stuck for the help of a beef farming neighbour
i had 3 neighbours in the last 2 days helping me getting ready for getting out of the sucklers,1 was protesting ,other 2 not, if i protest or not has nothing to do with standing outside a private meat company or running up the road when some one needs a hand and a neighbour.
