Feeling Blue...

Hi I thought I would write here for advise on what other people do when they are feeling blue.

From time to time I go through phases of feeling down and out and blue, I could cry at the drop of a hat. I can not pin point it to anything specific.

What do you do to snap out of it. XX

Hi, Sorry to hear that you are feeling like that. When I am feeling down I try to get out for a walk or try to meet up with friends or keep busy. I try and do anything rather then let that awful feeling get a grip on me. Hope you feel better soon.xx

Thanks for that, I might try and walk after work, I live alone and live 2 1//2 hours from my family and majority of my friends so I think loneliness is a big part of it.

Would there be neighbours living near you, sometimes just having a chat over the fence might help. Is there even anyone nice at work that you can have a cuppa with? I know its awful when you feel like that, sorry I can't be more of a help to you.

Its tough. I am in Finland, far away from my bf, family and friends. The days are short and dark, the weather is tough. I do have a sanity buddy and we try to do at least one social thing at the weekends and something during the week, but you really have to force yourself to leave the house at times. Its hard to take any classes due to language issues, and hard to keep active. Last winter I planned a big holiday on February. This year I have a wedding to plan, those things, lovely future plans, keep me going. but there are definitely dark moments.

I was reading an article and it said to make a list of the top 100 things that make you happy, it occupies your mind and also puts life into perspective. It can be as small as tea and toast or as big as hugs from your other half!

    Hi there OP,

I think your thread would be better suited in the Personal Issues forum, so I'll move it to there.

    Best of luck :)

    Hi OP,

I wonder could it be a hormonal thing? I went through periods of feeling very down and teary on and off for a few months. I put it down to stress, home sickness etc.

On the advice of my doctor I changed pills and my mood has improved dramatically.

    Hope you feel better soon!
