I am sadly going to have to sign on the dole this week. How does the photo taking for the dole id card work ? What kind of camera do they use ?

They just use your Facebook picture these days, you must add your local dole office as a friend though. Don't forget to like and share all their status's as well for a chance to win double dole at Xmas.

Does someone from the dole office visit your house ? How many times do you have to have meetings at the dole office before you get money ?

You will be asked to go into a social welfare office and your picture will be taken as you talk to the person at the desk. It's no different than getting your passport photo taken.

Generally you will recieve one visit to confirm you that you live at the address you gave.
As for how long? It depends on your application. Bring all the correct documents at the first meeting and you will be given a temp card after (it literally is a piece of yellow card) in which you can get your dole until your social services card arrives. Obviously if you do not have one already.
