Laptop quite noisey

    Just bought a laptop and at times it gets very noisey the fan and very hot its 3 yrs old but very good condition from what i see, would a fan cooler sort this out? I need my laptop very quiet for study

    Its 120 ssd so maybe that has something to do with it, just looking at ssd fan control application here on the net

    A good clean will probably help, there's every chance it's full of dust inside. Take off the cover and give it a good (gentle) clean, perhaps with a can of compressed air if it's really dirty.

    Ok cheers guys, i never opened a laptop before though should i attempt that myself, is the fan cooler gadget worth it?

    External fans will just make more noise, they dont really have any more effect than a good stand will(better room for airflow).

    Firstly get a can of compressed air and blast into the fan intake/exhaust. That may dislodge a fair bit of dust. Then, if its still noisy, replace the internal fan. After 3yrs its own bushings could be pretty worn out, a new one should help reduce noise significantly. You could also manually clean dust while doing this.

    Also whats the spec? Some laptops are designed with too much heat and insufficient cooling(HP had a habit of it previously) and will always be noisy.
