Well I'm just wondering what's the going rate these days for Trades Skilled and General operatives on construction sites working as employees. Not self employed can't seem to find much information on this even though The Industry has picked up a lot this year. The old Siptu rates seem to be out the Window.

the government wont set a rate for the unions thats why the rates on the cards are from a couple of years ago these agencies are under cutting each other and paying us nothing and are allowed do it.We need the government to let the unions to set rates for us cause we can do nothing now if were offered 8 euro an hour they wont pay travel or nothing and its going to get worse union will tell u you have to get rate on gov jobs but that bull

Have a read of this. these are meant to be the minimum rates that you should be paid but very few Companies are paying it.
With the construction industry picking up their should be a new REA agreement sorted out sick of been exploited.
All them agencies are only Gangsters Especially when they ask questions like what's your salary expectations etc.

Is the construction contractor dead in the water? the old PAYE system at least.
Anyone i know in the electrical trade is working on a C2 and is getting bits of work here and there.no overtime,no holiday pay,no sick pay,no job security and no social welfare entitlement .An absolute disaster of a system !!! Union should look into this.

I agree but if you get work on a big government project ie. Schools Hospitals Water treatment plants. you will get the proper rate -Not many of those going on doh.
I used to get Overtime + Travel allowance but getting neither now. I'm not even get proper hourly rate.
The cost of Living has gone up but our salaries have gone down 30% in some cases :/
Was talking to a guy in Siptu & he said it will be 2016 before a new JLC agreement will be hammered out. Until then the only legal binding rate is €8.65 ph

If you want a start fast go trough an Agency like 3D personal , BSS, O'Neill Brennan, MCR , Hays etc. Their always looking for staff as long as your salary expectation isint too high lol.

I would rather get a job in aldi or tesco, at least it would be honest work, google is full of these agencies and they have taken over all the job websites, got a number of one crowd yesterday, they started 4 chippies the day before, its fustrating but there must be some decent companies left ,anyways, if any of you guys come across a number let me know, also is there a better thread where I could be posting this on?Im new to this and I actually think its a great resource website.

The only good thing bout the agencies is if u get bit of work you might get chatting to Some of the Sub contractors & might get start with 1 of them its very hard sitting at home sending out cv's and waiting on a call.
