06 Ford Focus Cmax 1.8 TDCI Alternator noisy

2006 Ford Focus Cmax, 1.8 TDCI, 115hp, the Alternator is making quite a racket, close to jamming now, squealing like crazy, metal on metal sound with lights actually dimming sometimes, so I guess there's a bearing gone.
New ones are crazy expensive, from €300 onwards, so I would like to rebuild.
What gets me is that there's a million videos telling me how to rebuild the thing, but no one selling me the parts!
If anyone knows where to find a rebuild kit for the above alternator, please let me know.
Finding a new alternator online is not the issue, millions of them out there and I have already sourced a second hand one from a scrap yard, if needs must.
But if anyone knows of a good source for things like bearings, rectifier and brushes, please let me know.

    ^^^^^
Turned out to be not the right alternator, back to square one

ok,a few days trawling the net brought up nothing on this side of the pond in English, so switch to German instead:
    http://www.lima-shop.de/site/index.php/cat/c11_Lichtmaschinen-Teile.html
Bearings, regulators, brushes and everything else. Much better than any UK or Irish site, which really surprises me, I expect the Irtish sites to have nothing, or very little, but you think the UK would have many stockists or spare parts.
Next, finding my model, ordering the parts and start the rebuild.
And by the looks of it, there is also a looming rebuild for the alternator on her MX5.
    I'll keep you posted.

There is a guy in Mayo, trading on ebay under the name goldlion electronics, who sells alternator rebuild kits.
He has a load of how to videos on Youtube as well.
I have bought a few kits from him and he is very reasonable on postage.

If the rotor has struck the stator would you be better off rebuilding the S/H one?

Alternator rebuild kits goldlion returns 0 results.
Alternator rebuild kits returns a lot of 60's American musclecars .
Goldlion Electronics on it's own returns an American vacuum valve manufacturer, which is really cool:

I will check ebay again once I have ascertained the exact make and model of the alternator, because otherwise I'm just guessing.

    Sorry, drawing a blank here?
And how would I know the rotor struck the stator. At the moment just sounds like a disintegrating bearing to me.

In your original post you say it's close to jamming, dreadful squealing etc. The air gap is very small, even if the rotor hasn't contacted the stator if pieces have escaped from the disintegrating bearing they could cause a lot of damage. I think it would be easier to strip and recon the s/h alternator you have and then do a swap. The car would be immobile for much less time.

    Second hand I think?
Sorry, don't have one. Nothing suitable at any scrappy in my area, so have to go with the strip and rebuild method.
I don't think anything has struck anything yet, just noisy bearing so far and funnily enough only sporadically, sometimes it's so bad it nearly stalls the engine with the drag and other times you wouldn't know anything is wrong with it at all.

I your first post I thought you had sourced a secondhand alternator. Before you go removing the alternator did you check the freewheeling pulley isn't seized? They make a terrible racket and can throw the belt eventually.

You are right, I did. Was the wrong one, 99-2004, different than what I have.
Will check the pulley, been so busy haven't even had time to glance at it.
Got some holidays coming up and will do some tearing and rebuilding.

It would be a much handier fix if it was just the pulley. You'll need an extractor to remove it and a quick blast with an air tool will shock it free. My son got his done on a 05 Passat recently. 50 yo yo's including the replacement pulley to my usual guy and job done!!
