Which option? Processor or Graphics card?

If you were right on the limit of your budget and you could afford either a superiour processor with a lower spec graphics card OR a lower spec processor with a superiour graphics card which one would be the better option?

I am in this situation and I'm not sure which option might suit. An example of the options:

    i5-4690 with an Nvidia GTX 970 4GB
    or
    i7-4790 with an Nvidia GTX 760 2GB

I appreciate it would depend on what I am using the setup for but it will be for general use and a decent amount of game play.

EDIT: Changed the options around, got them wrong initially.

I assume you mixed them up there as the 2nd PC has a better processor and card.

For games though an i7 isn't going to make any difference, so the GTX970 with the i5 would be the same.

Always put more into the graphics card for games. A €50 G3220 + GTX970 would be faster than the i7 4790 + GTX760 in some games for example.
