Shoulda gone with tried and trusted aksiums with my previous purchase, but what's done is done, so now I'm looking for a trusty winter rear wheel (weight not really an issue) and it seems to make more sense to buy a set.

There seems to be a whole range of Shimano wheels from 80 to 120 euro: wh-rs's of various numbers, and I don't know anything about them.

    Anyone recommend a pair please?

I bought a set of aksiums off 4debike.com for 155 delivered from Germany.

I've been using RS11's on my winter bike since last winter, bought them from Ribble on one of their Shimano sales, came to €110 delivered.

They're low spoke count, at around 70kgs I don't think that should be an issue for me. They're certainly "solid", so much so that I'm going onto 25mm tyres when I wear out the current 23's. They are loose ball bearings, which I like, are free rolling, no problems there. This is their second winter and they are still true and I haven't needed to service the hubs yet. The skewers IMO are better than Mavic, easy to get tyres on with the thumbs....erm...that's about it really, so far pleased with them :D

Have them on my own bike, seem pretty bombproof so far. For the price you pay I'd say it would be hard to get better tbh.

Have an RS21 rear on my winter bike - was recommended Shimano over Aksiums by someone who knows their wheels.."bombproof" seems to be the general consensus!

Rose have a set of RS21s for €134 + €9 shipping to Ireland... cheaper as a set than to buy separately.

If you're anywhere near the West of Ireland and don't want the front, I can make you an offer ;-)
