Strava Android App question ref navigating routes

Forgive me if this is a stupid question but my understanding is Strava can guide you around a route you've pre loaded with voice guidance etc but for the life of me I can't figure out how to get it to work.

In the app I go to Record -> Map -> Select A Route -> Select my route and click "Use Route". The route is displayed on the map all right but there are neither written directions that are common on car navigation apps e.g. "Right turn in 200m" nor verbal instructions.

Also, the map remains oriented to North instead of displaying the direction of travel.

Have I misunderstood or over estimated Strava's functionality or is this functionality only available if you pay for the premium service?

Dear Mods, this thread has had 80 views and no response. I thought the cycling forum would be the natural place for it but I guess not. Can you move to the Android forum or can simply replicate it in the Android forum? (I thought replicating threads was frowned on hence the request/question)

Because I thought if I'm unable to figure the navigation function out and I'm a long time Android app user maybe getting some input here would share the knowledge amongst others who could also then use Strava on their Android phone to help them find and navigate new routes.

I guess I was mistaken and will contact Strava directly.

There is a thread already open on the zendesk on this and strava support confirm the audio turn by turn is not supported yet. A cumbersome alternative that works reasonably well with GPX files is OSMAnd.

Thanks Victor, it looks like you can create or find a route in Strava, download it as a GPX file and import it into OSMAnd which will then give you turn by turn navigation. I might give it a crack next weekend.
