    For z wave to work you'd need a controller like a Vera lite. Check out Vesternet.com for some other z wave gear / controllers.

    Your second option would probably be less maintenance in the long run and wouldn't require you to be available to open the door. I stayed in one airbnb place before that asked me what code I wanted. The cleaner then had a master code and when leaving, would set the next renters preferred code. Was very cool and there was no hope of me forgetting it.

    Would it fit on our doors in Ireland where pulling the handle up engages other locks around the frame?

    Ok, so I bought the Homematic Version of this and it works perfectly ! :)

    Fits onto the door barrel, no screws etc required.

    Came with a 4 button remote that allows 8 functions (short press/long press)

    Does Unlock, Lock and Open and should be good for a year :)
    I especially like that it didnt require any modification of the lock.

    Going to get a CCU next and setup OpenHab on my Raspberry PI, should be possible to also operate the hall and back lights from the Remote Buttons.

    Came to 149 euros with a second remote.

    For operating remotely I have a VPN Running on my router, connect with the phone and I can operate everything via and app :)
