ROS - filing a revised form 11

I filed my Form 11 last night on ROS, but I realised this morning that I forgot to include a small line item. I opened the offline form, added the item and then went back to upload it again, but ROS tells me that I don't need to/can't upload it as there's already a return filed for the period.

I don't see any option to overwrite or delete the old one, or a switch to say "this is a revised version"

I know it has to be possible to file a revised return, but I can't work out how to do it. Can anyone give me any pointers please?

The same happened for 2012 - I realised I hadn't claimed relief for PHI so I opened the offline form for last year, added the PHI and tried to upload it, but I get the same message.

    Help appreciated.

    Thanks,

    z

We email the local revenue district with an explanation and the ros offline file attached.

Normally you have to wait a day or two for them to process your return and send a self assessment letter to your ros inbox before you can submit an amended return.

I emailed Revenue and they said that you can't submit a revised return using the offline form, you can only do that with the online version. It's really not clear on the website itself, but once you select "Complete a form online" you can select the year and you will be brought to a pre-populated version of the form you are trying to amend. Click a few buttons and you're done.

They could do with sticking a little paragraph about amending existing returns on the page to make it clearer.

As a matter of interest, 2012 just required me to enter the changes, but 2013 required me to enter some text to say why it was being amended (claiming an extra relief, correcting an error, etc . . .) as well as entering the actual changes..

Thanks for coming back to this thread and explaining how to do it; I just lost a few minutes poking around their website trying to find the way to make a small amendment until I found your post.
