Just looking gor feedback from anyone that has a steam mop. Are they any good I have laminate flooring and Lino floors.
    Any recommendations,
Are they worth spending a few bob on or will I stick to the traditional mop and bucket.
    Cheers everyone :)

Spend a few quid extra and go for one of the Karcher steamers, those steam mops are mostly useless from experience

Was thinking about installing good quality laminate type flooring a while back (still thinking!), but I'm sure there was some question about using hot steam mops, due to the possibility of degrading seals and joins. Maybe read the 'small print' re the flooring you want. But would probably be OK on modern lino. Happy Googling!

I'm at my wits end with one of those steam mops that are advertised in the wee small hours - mine isn't working and I've only used it about 6 times. Its aThane H2o x5 and while it was working its been great. The problem is when I went to ebay to look for extra mop pads a few weeks ago I was surprised at how many " sold for spares" x5 there were there. Lots of them said "Not working"," no steam" et etc.Now I know why. The pump on mine has stopped working. It will heat up but no steam will pump from it. It had happened before but cleaning out the nozzles seemed to clear the problem. I should say I've only ever used it with water( Some other steam mops have detergents with them) . I'm bitterly disapponted as its so new and it was expensive so I'd say- get a good brand name Bissel, Vax, whatever you want but avoid this THANE mop like the plague. Its a vastly expensive, flimsy piece of rubbish.

Have had no issues with the Shark model. Have it about a year. Use it on laminate and tiled floors. Cant fault it, plenty of steam and floors dry in less than a minute. Bought one for the mother as she has a bad back and moping floors left her back aching. She'd never go back to a mop now. Haven't bout floor cleaner since purchasing the steamer, pads get washed in washing machine.

Has anyone ever tried putting e.g. Flash wood cleaner etc in the detergent box of the Vax mop? I can't see how it could bugger the mop and I don't want to splash out crazy money on the Vax brand detergent.

PS The Vax is vv good. Got it in Argos, half price job.
