Cost wise hard to beat the €20 Dublin Bus Cap on the student leap card and the expresso bus in the morning and evening. Not the quickest option though especially if you leaving earlier or later than the evening expresso. Train to Sydney parade and a 25 min walk is also an option

Student leap card on Dublin bus will be the cheapest option. The 7.10 from Maynooth will get her in by 9.00 (it's approx 1.5 hours), the 7.25 should get her in too but if there are any delays (traffic, accident etc.) she will be late. 66x or 67x at either end of the day are the only options, if she doesn't want to change over in town. The last direct bus from UCD is somewhere around 17.20 so if she is in later than this, she will have to go into town and change over.

Driving is significantly faster - approx 40-50 minutes (an hour if going through town as opposed to the M50) but petrol etc. will add up to be more expensive. Also, she will need to leave pretty early to get in for 9.00 because of the traffic build up and the parking in UCD after 8.30 is a bitch.

Train to Sydney parade/Booterstown takes approx 1 hour (change over in town) but there is a decent walk up to the university after this (maybe 25-35 minute depending on how fast she walks). There is a shuttle bus that leaves from/returns to the Vet Hospital but I don't know the running details of this (how frequently it runs, what time it starts/end etc.) so it may not be an option.

Also, depending on what department she is in, start times may not always be at 9.00. 8.00 starts are not unknown so the bus will not get her in for this time and she will have to leave very early to drive or get the train.

It depends on whether it is during rush hour or not , you cab drive it in half an hour off peak but that could turn in to 2 hours at peak times .

Bear in mind that UCD have been trying for over a year to bring in an hourly parking charge of €1 per hour - unsuccessfully to date, but this may change by Sept next year.

    Hi Guys,

After attending the open day on Saturday. They have decided to go to trinity if possible. Placements on the course in ucd were for sligo or wexford as opposed to Dublin in trinity. Thanks everyone for the feedback. Trinity should be an easy train ride and short stroll.
