what is (Common Entry)

    Hi guys

    I am an international student and i am interested on BA in Applied Language and Translation Studies (Common Entry) .


    but i do not know what (Common Entry) mean?


    also I tried to view the modules for applied language.

    DCU did not put the modules for the first year. I just would like to know what is the core modules in the first year?

    Hi there! Common entry means that everyone enters into the one generic course and THEN pick their languages. In some other colleges the languages are divided into seperate courses that all have different entry/points requirements but here everyone is in the one course just studying different subjects.

    The 1st year subjects were up there until very recently but since they're no longer there I'm guessing they may be changing. However as a basic idea you would be studying 3-4 modules related to each language over the year (i.e. 3-4 French based modules plus 3-4 German based modules or whatever your lang pair is). On top of these you would have general linguistics and culture related classes where you learn the general theories behind all languages and cultures.
