Erasing memories.

A drug is being developed that can target and erase specific memories. (as apposed to certain recreational drugs that will erase random chunks of it) It's worked on rats and mice so far in the lab. Would people really want any of their memories erased?

There are probably a dozen things I've done over the last 30ish years that I really wish I could forget so I'd definitely be taking it.

How the fcuk do they know they erased specific memories in mice and rats? Do they get to choose which memories, or is that part just as random?

    Sigh. So many questions

How would you know not to make the same mistakes again?

Perhaps the state can pass a law to ensure we must forget about any objections to Irish Water.

They teach the rats to associate certain sounds with pain. When the sound is played the rats freak out. They then give the rat the drug while making the sound. Afterwards the rat no longer associates the sound with pain.

Well I'm married now so I'll never send a particular text to a particular girl while drunk. The mistake won't be made again so I think erasing the memory would certainly do me good. That's a simple example, there are lots of things that there's no chance of happening again even if the memory is erased.

Finally. FINALLY instead of the public sector being mentioned in every thread, or then the bailout, we've finally moved onto something else, Irish Water. Thank jesus for that.

    Sounds like rat-abuse.

They make the mouse forget its a mouse, then gave it some cheese. It wasn't having any of that sh*t so clearly it wasn't a mouse anymore due to its memory of being mouse getting erased.

Exactly. You think I'll erase that time I said that stupid thing to that girl in the Palais and you wake up forgetting how to talk.

Them lab rats really drew the short straw being tested on compared to the free range rat who spends all their life riding.

CHRIST I wish they'd just poison more mice and rats. This mucking around with their heads is going to end badly.
