Crown 2.5l was 3 for €42 in b&q the other week. Not sure if its still on but works out a bit cheaper!

Never buy paint from a chain DIY store. Its water down compared to the trade grade of paint. For good value paint, go to a Crown decorators store or any other trade paint store. Like Stillorgan decorators center( excellent value).

Also a decorator center will make up a tin of dulex or any cheaper brand paint in the colour of a luxury brand like Fallow and Ball. It can be half the price for the exact same colour

I'd say your first point is a bit "conspiracy theorist". Can't see the likes of dulux putting more water in the woodies batch than they put in the batch going to MRCB. That idea is a bit mad, although I would never advocate buying their own brand rubbish.

And as for matching F&B colours, you're still getting dulux / crown base. Anyway, F&B is very expensive.

Colortrend all the way. Great paint.

Im just repeating what several painters have told me over the years. There is plenty of examples of trade grade product and products for the public.

I know Dulex isnt amazing. But its better to get 10 liters of paints in a colour you want for €40 than spending a €100 to get the same colour from Farrow and Ball.

You wont be getting 10ltrs of Dulux base made up in store for €40. You're way off the mark there. And I mean way off.

You might get the basic vinyl matt with a tint for that price but I find non washable matt will show marks pretty quickly.

10l of Dulux Trade Diamond Matt is ~85 euro ,its the same type of paint as the Easycare but of higher quality with a higher pigment content .
Easycare is almost 60 euro for 5l .

Anyone recommend a crown paint for ceilings in a new build so will be painting on fresh plaster? 33% seems like a decent saving

Yes indeed, learned this the hard way. Bought loads of cheap "Crown" paint in B&Q but it was awful muck.
I have encountered some very poor quality in B&Q in recent years.

    10l of
Dulux Trade Diamond Matt is ~85 euro ,

It would want to be Diamond for that price, €8.50 a litre!.
10 Ltr Crown Covermatt for €19.95 in Heiton Buckleys Builders.

€23.49 in Woodies & with the 33% off, it works out cheaper in Woodies.

Thats a basic matt paint and only available in white or magnolia I'd imagine.

Very hard to keep a non washable matt paint like that clean ,perfect for fresh plaster and ceilings though.
Diamond matt is a tough, washable matt emulsion with 10 times the durability of silk emulsions. It is resistant to many common stains and will wipe clean without polishing up.

No comparison whatsoever to what zardoz recommends and your one.

It's 19.95 for a reason. It's piss, and you'll still be wondering why it's patchy after 3 coats. For a decent cheap ceiling paint in 10ltr bucket - try leyland. You'll get it from and decent supplier.

What's the Fleetwood brand like for quality and coverage? They have a 10l tub in B&Q for €30 in a range of six 'non Magnolia' beiges ... three matt and three mid sheen.

You need to be more specific. Are you looking for a matt, silk or soft sheen finish ? If you are looking at matt, then expect to pay north of €80 for 10ltrs in a decent washable. I'd recommend Colortrend.

If your intention is to paint rooms that get a lot of use, typically D/S rooms or Hall, stairs & landing, then don't skimp and get the "€20 bucket in Woodies". It'll drive you mad.
