Hi Folks, I have recently being thinking about a change, currently have an 06 Audi A4 1.9TDI and have up to €10k to spend.

I have been thinking of a Seat Exeo, nicely specced one in Barrons, Terenure, Dublin. Not sure if I really want it though.

Does anyone have any suggestions about what else I should consider. Also does anyone have any opinions on easy it would be to sell my A4 privately, 170k kms and FSH, all round good condition. Which may open up UK option, not sure if there is much of a potential saving there at this stage with exchange rates.

The Exeo is basically a re-badged A4 you currently have, just with the more modern VAG diesel engines fitted. If you are happy with the same 14 year old original design and small cabin then consider it but if you want a change because you are bored with the A4 then look at something else. I'd look at the newer shape A4 or a Passat/Passat CC. They are much more modern than the Exeo.

Your A4 should be easy enough to sell if it's in good shape and priced right. Those A4s fetch good money and are well sought after especially with the stale wort 1.9 TDi engine.

Cheers. Yes having that battle with my myself about the Exeo, nothing wrong with my own car per se. Just had a change of job so a lot more mileage now and getting into a territory with my own where bills can mount up.

Hard to find too many 3/4 year old A4's with reasonable mileage without sky high asking prices, pretty much same with cc's. The search continues.

Any opinion ball park what I could achieve for my own A4.

I'd say probably about €6k to €6.5k. Being honest, 170k km is not that high for a nearly 9 year old diesel car, should be plenty of life left in it yet.

I'd agree with a newer shape A4 being a nice bit more modern than an exeo but a Passat CC is hardly a lot more modern than an B6 a4 is it?.

Yes it is. The CC was launched in 2008, granted it uses the 2005 Passat platform and dashboard but the body was all new as were a lot of other things. The B7 Passat gained a lot of things in 2011 that were introduced in the CC.

Visually, the exeo is a bit of a step backwards from the old A4 though.
