Looking at getting fitted for the new 915 woods in the near future but am I right in thinking that I would get the specs and could shop around?

Also assuming no problem ordering from McGuirks?

    Anyone been recently?

I haven't been in about 2 years, so this may be out of date, but you can't buy from the fitting centre in Carton. As far as I remember you need to book the fitting through your pro or retailer. You get the specs and your pro is also sent them. If you were to buy elsewhere, I think you'd have to pay your pro for the fitting as Titleist will bill him for it.

Like I say, it's a couple of years since I've been out there, so it may be different now.

I was there a few weeks ago for a fitting.

You can now book a fitting directly through the GUI academy . You pay upfront and it's takes a few weeks to get an appointment. At the end I was giving the option to get a price off the academy or just take my specs and order them from wherever I wanted .

Mark there is a great fitter and a nice guy . Well worth the visit

I went to a Titleist fitting event of the 915 range today. It was run by McGuirks but the fitting was being done by Mark from Titleist in Carton House. He had the full range of shafts and used Trackman (and was free!). I did a driver fitting.

They had similar events over the last few days in different driving ranges around Dublin. The bloke from McGuirks organising it said that there were a few more planned.

What was the verdict on the drivers?

What was the verdict on the drivers?

    Very good.
My current driver is an R1 from Foregolf. I've never really taken to it and the feel with the driver is poor for me - the ball never shot off the club face.
I tried a 913 D3 during the summer and it felt great with the sense that the ball could be shaped in either direction.

With the fitting today, after i hit a few shots with my current driver with Trackman I was given the D2 and D3 in stiff and extra stiff to try. Both heads are very similar in size but the D3 is a little smaller. The D2 is supposed to be a bit more draw bias but i didn't see it looking down.
I found little difference between the D2 and D3 in terms of consistency and ball flight. Both gave excellent results to my eye. The ball seemed to explode off the face with a high piercing flight.
Off center hits did not veer off line as much as my current driver and the ball flight and distance was still good.

I had read online that the the 915 drivers made a high pitched sound at impact. I didn't notice this.

After some switching between shafts and heads, Mark recommended the D3 in 9.5 degree with the stiff shaft (not stock, unfortunately and stiffer then a standard stiff). They had a big selection of exotic and standard issue shafts but i didn't try any stock shafts.

The distance was not greater (if any) then my current driver but the consistency was much better - i felt that i only missed one imaginary fairway on the range.

With the larger sweetspot across the face, the smash factor was consistently up at the 1.49 - 1.5.

Fit and finish was what is expected from Titleist but my only negative is the join between the face and the crown. Like the 913's the crown is slighty proud of the face where they meet and will chip with balls hit high on the face.

Don't know yet what the cost of the driver and shaft will be but i'm gonna find it difficult to not make this purchase.

Anyone want to buy a slightly used R1?!

Lol, sounds like a great experience. I'm going for the woods fitting with a view to getting 3w and hybrid first with maybe driver later depending on the fitting(got. Driver and shaft combo that is working for me for now)

What shaft did u settle on?

I heard the drivers were €449 but this could be wrong!

PS - FWIW I tried the R1 and couldn't hit it for toffee, sold after a month

Yes, the hybrids look tidy but my wallet and I are happy with my current 913 hybrid.

I'm not sure of the shaft spec - I'll get an email with the recommended specs. I was just handed clubs to hit and didn't take full notice of the spec of the shaft. I would have like to have had the option of testing a stock shaft to see how it compared to an exotic shaft.

I see on McGuirks website that the driver is going for €429 (and €485 in Halpenny!)

Was fitted last Friday in Carton for the 915. Mark was saying he's fully booked until the 4th of December.

Have you placed an order yet - what specs did you go for?

9.5 degree Diamna stiff shaft 70 gram grey/white colour. I'll be chatting to my pro when he's back from holidays next week. Really enjoyed it up there, had my irons fitted there in 2010.

If somebody went to Carton now is it only the 915 range available or can the 913 range be still got?
