Here's an interview with Sinead Diver for those interested.

For those who don't know, she's originally from Ireland, but moved to Melbourne when she was 25, and has been living in Melbourne since then. She only took up running a few years ago, and now aged 37, is a 2:34 marathon runner, a time which would rank her third in Ireland this year, and has the Rio Olympics in her sights.

It's certainly never too late to take up running.

Great choice for an interview, would be great to see her compete for Ireland as opposed to Australia.

Link here to an interview with Sinead Diver on the Ray Darcy Show. She's recently been selected to represent Australia at the World Championships in Beijing later this year, a fantastic achievement at the age of 38, only 5 years after taking up running. Great to see this get a bit of mainstream publicity.

    Good woman Sinead: :D

James: What do you believe to be your strongest attribute with regards athletics, and what area do you feel you could improve on the most?

Sinead: I’m a very determined person and I think this is massively important in distance running. I’m also very good at running by feel and am confident that when I race I will find the right balance of pushing myself whilst remaining in control.

(From interview in the first post)

Aw, I'd love to listen to that, but I've been Ray Darcy free for several months now and it has been the most stress free period in my adult life :)

He actually sounds like Joe Duffy on it.

    Fair play to her

She is running for Australia so?

Yep, and a great decision at that. Much more opportunity with World Cross, Comm Games in Australia in 2018, and our qualifier for Beijing is 2:32. Delighted for her, and it's the right decision. She has come through the Athletics Victoria setup down there. Decision doesn't make her any less Irish.

Good for her - that's some achievement. Will be supporting her whoever she runs for :)

Totally agree, they are supporting her down there, providing all the support she needs.

For anyone following her progress Sinead Diver ran a HM PB of 1:13:58 today. She said she was very disappointed with her time but learnt a lot!

    Hi Chivito550,

Do you work on these interviews? If so maybe set up a thread of some interviews you got in the past if you get the time?

I posted the below on the other thread but thought I'd put it here too. I know that some have been wondering why Sinead picked Australia over Ireland. It was always going to be a difficult decision anyway, as she has a lot to be thankful for in Australia with regards athletics, but here is the reason. I've known this for awhile, but didn't want to share it until they were happy for it to be public knowledge.

This morning, Sinead Diver from County Mayo, finished 21st in the marathon for her country of residence, Australia. Coach Tim Crosbie speaks about the severe difficulty of deciding between two countries very close to her heart, and in the end it came down to there being more opportunity for athletes Down Under and fairer selection policy. Read his thoughts here:
