Results for the Model S were published this week. In general it did very well but there was an issue with the passenger front airbag and an issue with weak chest protection in the pole test.

In the frontal offset test the passenger compartment was very stable with the A pillar not moving at all and the brake pedal moving 6 mm back and 13 mm up.

Even though the car had weak chest protection in the pole test the car looks to have done exceptionally well in terms of strength and (lack of) intrusion. It may be the case that this strength could come into play in a higher speed pole type impact or if struck side on by something narrow such as a motorbike

When the US NHTSA tested the model S it also had very low intrusion in their pole test

For comparison, Volvo S60 NHTSA pole

Assuming that they test it at some stage it will be interesting to see how the model S does in the IIHS small overlap test and roof strength tests.
