    Hi,
Here to just find out other opinions or people that may be the same as me. At the minute I'm doing my PPL, that's all I'm planning on doing, and next year apply for the Aer Lingus cadetship !!

Is this a good or bad thing for my application? I hear it would be perfect, then I hear they wouldn't take on anyone with some sort of experience. For some reason I doubt that.

    Any help be appreciated, thanks.

Your right to doubt them, they are talking rubbish.
Go fly as much as you can or wish to, hang around the school or club over the summer months and learn all you can. Read books and in general just immerse yourself in the industry as best you can.
All the best with your journey.

That's so trueðŸ‘.. That's my plan, there's always good people to know around the school, it's who you know at the end of it all, but aswell as that having the aptitude.. Thanks for the reply, appreciate it.

Doing the hours towards a PPL shows you are interesting and willing to work at gaining a cadetship. The fact that you are planning ahead shows commitment too. These are qualities that are looked for.

The 'advice' you got is not reliable, EI want brand new entrants, anyone already with a CPL should use their direct entry route.

Why not read over this thread for other tips

That's like telling a someone who wants to be a trainee chef that he shouldn't do any cooking before he applies. Aer Lingus are obviously looking for people who really want to be pilots not some randomer who fancies the idea when he sees the ad.
it's who you know at the end of it all,
That won't help with the cadetship but if you are truly interested in a career as a pilot. It definitely will help down the road as I'm sure you know you can't depend on getting a cadetship.

Oh yes I understand that. I'm working on it a long time, so next year I'll give the Cadetship a go, if I don't pass 1st part 2nd part whatever the case may be I'll apply again and again!! Thanks.
